How to address race and racism in early childhood years

The action research will focus on why there is need to address race and racism in early childhood years. 
Six-month-olds can nonverbally identify persons depending on their race and gender, according to research. Compared to infants of the same race, those exposed to an unexpected face of a different race spent much more time staring at that face. previous research support the idea that two-year-olds categorize people based on race and that multiple studies reveal that three- to five-year-olds actively develop their own views by collecting knowledge about the world around them. first and foremost, because of their inexperience, children are susceptible to stereotyping. The ability to classify persons based on more than one attribute is more common in older toddlers, but early toddlers are still unable to do so. kids use transductive reasoning where they assume that one dimension such as skin color can be seen as a proxy for another such as gender, abilities or intelligence. Racism is taught to children in a variety of ways, both in their own environments and in our society as a whole.In the early stages of life, toddlers learn from their environment which categories are most important. These social categories will be interpreted by children without adult instruction. For each gender, there is a distinct set of connotations attached. However despite all the evidence that support that kids learn about race and racism as early as 6 months old, most teachers and parents believe that young children should be shielded from talks of race and racial inequities. There is a lot of concern among adults that bringing these subjects up too early could be detrimental to children. parents and instructors may have different views on whether or not it is appropriate to teach about race and racism in the early childhood classroom based on their own experiences with these issues. Early childhood is a critical time for children to develop an understanding of racial injustice and its effects. As early as preschool, it has been found that children may perceive racial distinctions and begin to exclude their peers of various races from participating in play and other activities. Safe spaces for children to discuss these issues are more necessary than ever in light of the present political and cultural atmosphere. Because of this, parents and teachers have an obligation to teach and learn about these important and difficult topics with their children. Therefore these assumptions by teachers and parents neccessiates the research on how to address race and racism in early childhood.
